Bienvenue Parent/Toddler Class!
My name is Soraya Thenoz, and I am the teacher for this class at UMCDC. Our program is in full swing. Class takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 am. This is an exciting time for our toddlers, as they learn about being in “school”.
This program is designed to help parents and toddlers bond and interact through play, music, art, and outdoor activities. Each week, we will meet outside on the playground behind our classroom (Room 15). Children should wear comfortable play clothes and closed-toe shoes. We love to get MESSY! Inside the classroom, we will have circle time, snack, and free play. Please bring your own snacks.
The lesson plans are created with activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development. Our lessons will focus on fine and gross motor skills, sensory awareness, creativity, and language development.
We also encourage parents to ask questions, share ideas, and look to each other for support.
And finally, since we are working with toddlers, we expect children to also experience frustration as they navigate through these new skills and lessons. Please remember to support your child with positive parenting. Remain calm and supportive. Allow your child to become a part of the resolution (if they are ready) by giving them choices. Children at this age are trying to take control of their world. We need to be patient and realistic in our expectations, especially at the beginning of this school year.
Important dates: Tuesday, October 17th and Wednesday, October 18th – Picture Days
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call/text/email me anytime.
Looking forward to a fun year ahead!
